FAQ
What is the best way to clean my bottles?
All components are dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand washing in warm, soapy water for best results and a longer lifespan. To sterilize, you can use boiling water, a steam sterilizer, microwave sterilization (with an appropriate accessory), or a UV sterilizer. Sterilizing with UV-C light may result in premature yellowing of silicone components, although this side effect is purely cosmetic.
How do I know what nipple size I need?
All BuubiBottle Mini and Max come standard with a slow flow nipple. We have recommended age ranges for each nipple size, but every baby is different, and there's no 'right' time to swap sizes. However, if you notice your baby doing any of the following, it's likely time to size up:
- taking longer than usual to feed
- falling asleep frequently while feeding
- getting impatient or aggravated while feeding
- suckling vigorously or causing the nipple to collapse
Also note that we recommend replacing your nipples every 3 months at maximum. Inspect them frequently and discontinue use if you notice any damage.
Can I convert BuubiBottle into a toddler cup?
Absolutely. SipKit toddler cup conversion kits are designed for use with BuubiBottle Max.
However, you may want to use your SipKit toddler cup conversion kit with BuubiBottle Mini. In that case, you can carefully trim the straw (just a little bit) with scissors. Just note:
- There's no going back
- Altering your straw will void your warranty
How many bottles and nipples do I need?
Newborns can feed 8-12 times daily, so we typically recommend having six bottles and nipples on hand. From there, decide if you need more based on how much cleaning and sterilizing you do and your resulting comfort level.
How can I tell what flow rate I have?
On the underside of each nipple near the edge, you'll find a number etched into the silicone base. 1 (Slow flow), 2 (Medium flow), 3 (Fast Flow), 4 (Flex Flow)
