Quark Baby started with a new dad and a simple question: could this be done better? The University of Victoria's Gustavson School of Business just published a feature on our co-founder, Garett Senez, and the path that led him here.

Here are the moments that shaped Quark Baby, and what they mean for the parents we build for.
It Started With Hannah
Garett's daughter, Hannah, was born in 2021. Like every new parent, he spent his days with bottles, warmers and feeding gear. He noticed that some of it was designed around habit, not around the people using it.
So he set out to change that. Quark Baby was built on one idea: products should make the hard parts of early parenthood easier, not harder.
A Career Built on Doing Things Better
Quark Baby is Garett's latest chapter, not his first. After earning his Master of Global Business (MGB) from UVic in 2011, he joined L'Oréal. He then moved into beer, building marketing experience at one of the world's largest brewers. That led him to found PACRIM Distributors, which now exports Canadian craft beer to more than 20 international markets.
Across beauty, beer and baby, one thread holds. In his words: "I'm just always thinking about how we can do things better."
Garett credits the MGB program with giving him a global view of business early on. He went in knowing he wanted to build something of his own. The program helped him see how to do it across markets and cultures.
The Moment in the Den
In 2023, Garett took Quark Baby to CBC's Dragons' Den. Partway through the pitch, he stopped. Instead of pushing for a deal, he thanked the Dragons for the opportunity and told them it was okay if they passed.
He had read Arlene Dickinson's book and admired her work. In that moment, he chose a real conversation over a perfect pitch. It wasn't the plan. It worked.
Garett left the Den with a $2 million investment from Arlene Dickinson. That deal gave Quark Baby the momentum to scale.
Where We Are Today
Quark Baby is now sold in seven countries and more than 6,000 stores. Parents find us online and on the shelves of retailers they already trust.
The next step goes beyond feeding, with new categories on the way. The goal stays the same: fewer hard moments, more time with your baby.
