Quook Tips & Tricks

Auto Clean Made Easy

Focus on your children and let Quook clean up the mess! To use the ‘Auto Clean’ function:

Step 1: Rinse any remaining purée from the cup, and fill the stirring cup with water to the ‘MAX CLEAN’ fill line.

Step 2: Secure the spill-proof cover and lid onto the stirring cup and attach it to the unit. Power on the unit and press the ‘Auto Blend’ button.

Step 3: Drain the water and rinse the stirring cup, and run a ‘Sterilize’ cycle to disinfect the stirring cup.

Note: If you prefer to use a dishwasher to clean your Quook components, the stirring cup and blade components are top rack dishwasher safe. Easy Recipes, Endless Combinations. Did you know there are dozens of recipes on the Quark website?! Best thing is, it doesn’t end there.

You can substitute ingredients in many of the recipes for endless varieties and ultimate flavour combinations. Some winning examples include:

Switching Out Fruits: Many fruits go together, and with Quook it’s so easy to experiment with flavours and textures! Feel free to add blackberries or blueberries in lieu of Strawberries in our Strawberry, Banana and Apple Puree, or our Strawberry, Salmon and Leek Puree.

Replacing Vegetables: Starches are a great way to keep baby full, but there are so many types of starches which will do lovely. Consider Sweet Potato, Pumpkin, Carrots, Cauliflower, Bell Peppers or Butternut Squash in either our Chicken, Potato and Carrot Puree, or our Parsnip and Pea Puree. A mix in similar combinations of any of the above ingredients also works!!

Spice It Up!

When creating your purees, don’t be afraid to use the spice of life! While monochromatic flavours are great to introduce your baby to solids, like all of us, babies get bored! Don’t be afraid to add fresh herbs or dried spices to the mix - a little ginger, turmeric, paprika, oregano, thyme, rosemary, cinnamon, or mint go a long way. Begin with herbs and aromatic spices like cinnamon, turmeric, nutmeg, cardamom, cumin, coriander, clove, smoked paprika, mint, basil, dill and rosemary. Here are some ideas to get you started:

CINNAMON – Cinnamon has warm, sweet and spicy notes and adds delicious flavour to sweet and savoury meals. Try adding it to apple puree, banana, sweet potato puree, fruit compote & yoghurt, muffins, porridge and stews.

SMOKED PAPRIKA – One of our favourites! Smoked paprika has a sweet rich smoky taste. Try adding to sweet potato, carrots, chicken, fish, lentils, paella, chilli and eggs.

CARDAMOM – Green cardamom (our preferred choice) has a floral, minty, peppery taste and works well in both sweet and savoury dishes. Try adding it to pear puree, carrot puree, chicken, porridge, muffins and banana bread.

TURMERIC – Turmeric has a mild fragrance and warm slightly bitter notes. Try adding to lentils, eggs, porridge, cauliflower puree, curries and stews.

CUMIN – Cumin has a nutty, peppery, earthy flavour that pairs well with meats and vegetables. Try adding it to carrot puree, cauliflower puree, lamb, chicken, stews, curry and chilli.

NUTMEG – Nutmeg has a warming sweet and peppery flavour. It is lovely in sweet baking but also with creamy savoury dishes. Try adding it to muffins, stewed fruit, bechamel sauce and pasta bakes.

MINT – Mint is aromatic and fresh with a sweet cooling flavour. Great for adding to both sweet and savoury purees, combines well with many vegetables such as new potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and peas and adds fresh flavour to fruits. We love how it has been used in our Spinach, Avocado, and Mint Easy Greens Recipe.

OREGANO – Oregano is very aromatic with slight earthy, green bitter notes, it is very popular in Mediterranean cooking. Try adding it to veggie purees, roasted vegetables, eggs, pasta sauces, or pizza.

ROSEMARY – Rosemary has a piney aroma and a distinctive sharp flavour. It is very strong and you only need a little. It gives a lovely flavour to purees, savoury dishes and even sweet baked goods.

BASIL – Basil has a light herbal bouquet that complements a wide variety of foods. Try it in baby purees, or puree it on its own for a fragrant, healthy sauce perfect for you and baby. It’s one of the primary ingredients in pesto – so why not try our Homemade Basil Pesto recipe for a delicious finger food dip for your little one.

Introduce Early, and Often

A lot of pediatricians today are recommending that you start to introducing common allergens to your baby as early as possible Strawberries are something that some babies can be allergic to, so by including them in small amounts into your dishes, you have a great way to expose them early on. Check out our Strawberry, Banana and Apple Puree, or our Strawberry, Salmon and Leek Puree for great ways to expose baby to Strawberries.

Easily Adjust Consistency

We love that Quook allows you see the consistency of the food before you blend. A lot of times, especially if you’re cooking harder vegetables like potatoes, or even fish and chicken, it’s hard to ensure that it’s cooked thoroughly. This step gives you the control you need, and we’re all about control here.

You can blend in two ways with Quook. We typically use the auto blend function, which blends it at different speeds over 1 min for the perfect consistency.

With Quook - you can also opt to do a manual blend, which pulses as you hold the manual blend function. This is super handy if you want to adjust the consistency of your food. As our daughters grow older and we want to give them more solid foods, we use the manual blend a lot more because I will want to leave a little more lumps in the dish.

Here’s how to use both:

Auto Blend (+Clean): Initiates the automatic blending function. When pressed, the ‘Auto Blend’ button will illuminate, the unit will emit a beep, and will begin blending for approximately one minute. The unit will beep 5 times upon completion of the cycle. To stop the process at any time, simply press the ‘Auto Blend’ button again and the unit will pause.

Your Quook baby food processor is designed to allow maximum control. You can customize the consistency of your baby food by Auto Blending multiple times in a row, or by using the Manual Blend function. The auto blend function can be repeated up to six times consecutively before the unit enters standby mode. To clean quick messes, simply add 300 mL of water to the stirring
cup and initiate an ‘Auto Blend’ cycle which will clean the stirring cup. Always follow with a sterilization cycle.

Manual Blend: Initiates the manual blending function. When held, the ‘Manual Blend’ button will illuminate, the unit will emit a beep and will begin blending. Releasing the button will stop the function and the light will dim. Repeat this process to ‘Pulse’.

Perfect Cooking Times, Every Time

When using the Steam function, the time is automatically set to 15m which is perfect for a lot of recipes. Quark gives you a lot of flexibility and control, so you can increase or decrease the time by touching the digital display panel. Depending on what you’re cooking, quark also gives some suggested cooking times in the instruction manual and on the side of the food processor as well.

Fruits and greens can be done in as little as 5 minutes, whereas you may want 16 or 17 minutes if your poultry or meat is extra thick. Great thing about Quook is that you can easily add or subtract when you start the cycle.

Notice that your food is done early? Or that you need extra time? No problem at all. Simply adjust the time on the steam cycle LIVE and you’re good to go. A lot of times, especially if you’re cooking more complex recipes, you really need that level of control in a food processor, and you can add or reduce time of steaming with the push of a button. When cooking harder vegetables like potatoes, or even fish and chicken, it’s hard to ensure that it’s cooked thoroughly. Quark makes it easy to make the things you love.
